At the next Geneva Motor Show later this year, French automaker Peugeot will pull the wraps off a new brand concept vehicle known as the SR1. The SR1 with fuel mileage estimated at 57.7 mpg (European, 48 miles per gallon U.S.) is not hallmarked by quirky, love-it-or-hate-it styling just unlike a number of recent Peugeot cars and concepts.

In this, I see a traditional long-hood and short-deck profile with some interesting details like the creased indentation in the doors that is echoed in both the rear and front fascias. The redesigned Lion logo will show up on all future Peugeots.

Power for the SR1 comes courtesy of Peugeot’s HYbrid4 technology that pairs a small 1.6 liter turbo diesel four-cylinder engine powering the front wheels with a 95 horsepower electric motor at the rear. Through-the-road hybrid system the all-wheel drive will make its production debut in 2011 inside the 3008 crossover, with other models also to follow.

Other concepts include a three-seat layout with the third passenger behind the twin front seats, a new removable plastic roof panel using technology which is borrowed from the sailing world and instrumentation that pairs futuristic crystal tubes displaying current fuel consumption and remaining range with a classic timepiece designed by Ross and Bell.
New themes are black nickel and satin chrome trim with traditional wood and leather inlays which continuing the old versus.

With fuel mileage estimated at 57.7 mpg (European, 48 miles per gallon U.S.), 313 combined horsepower and carbon emissions of only 119 grams per kilometer, the Peugeot SR1 must be a mean, green performer. Also, its four-wheel steering and lightweight structure should equal formidable handling prowess.

So, let’s see as I am not sure as the signaling Peugeot’s new styling direction is nothing more than a concept at this point.
