RUF unveils eRUF Stormster, the first SUV with electric powertrain

RUF Automobile, the manufacturer of high performance automobiles has introduced the first electric sports car – eRUF, from Germany in October 2008. In March 2009, during the Geneva Motor Show, RUF had presented an evolution of the first eRUF, known as ‘Greenster’.

With the launch of the “Stormster” which is the very first electrically driven SUV based on the Porsche Cayenne, the eRUF family continues to grow.

The Stormster with 270 kW or 367 bhp is driven by a Siemens electric motor as in the eRUF sports car. The highest speed is 150 km/h, being able to reach a range of 200 km at one charge. By Li-Tec Battery GmbH, the lithium ion accumulators are supplied. Li-Tec is the first manufacturer of lithium ion battery cells in Europe and it is designed for the automobile industry by using ceramic storage technology.

For the all wheel drive Stormster, Hankook developed the winter tires which is fitted to RUF classic five spoke lightweight wheels. It tires of size 295/30 R 22 allows the best possible road grip.

During the European Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen, (COP 15), Denmark, the Stormster will have its first public debut from December 7th to 18th.
