Mercedes is planning to replace the outgoing SLR McLaren as Mercedes-Benz has released a gallery of technical photos and teaser on its forthcoming SLS AMG supercar. The SLS AMG was developed by the German automaker. It was designed to call back to mind memories of Mercedes’ iconic 300 SL.
The SLS AMG has developed aluminum bodyshell that includes an aluminum spaceframe that keeps the weight of the supercar low. According to the source that the new supercar’s the planned DIN kerb weight will be around 3,671 lbs or 1,620 kilograms.
Features of SLS AMG include:

• Gullwing doors
• 6.3-liter
• V8 engine
• Delivering 571 HP at 6800 rpm
All these features results to a power-to-weight ratio of 2.84 kg/hp comes. The eight-cylinder engine delivers maximum torque of 650 Nm at 4750 rpm.
Mercedes said that the ‘Gullwing‘ accelerates in 3.8 seconds, from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) before going on to a top speed of 196 mph or 315 km/h. The fuel consumption for the SLS AMG is around 18.09 mpg US or 13.0lt per 100 kilometers. Through a new AMG dual-clutch transmission, the V8 engine transfers its power to the rear wheels with seven gears that is mounted at the rear.
It gives you a choice of four distinct driving modes that range from comfortable to extremely sporty and a RACESTART function.
High-performance composite brakes all-round provides the Stopping-power. And also optional ceramic composite brakes with larger brake discs will be available. The supercar will include 19-inch light alloy wheels shod in 295/30 R 20 (rear) tires and 265/35 R 19 (front).
Mercedes said that by the end of 2009, the testing phase of the vehicle will be complete with the ‘Gullwing’ launch set for spring 2010.

I don think it is possible ryt now to let down the performance of SLR. SLR totally offers a better fuel economy and the lighter external body then any other racing cars.I am a F1 Race freak I saw it several times, This SLR is very fractionally quicker in race thruout the range. I wud be waiting for this SLS AMG to hit the road and compete SLR in its best mood.
