Nokia C6 to be launched in September, 2010

Posted by Indrani Ghose On September - 1 - 2010

One of the most anticipated mobile phones in the market today is the Nokia C6, which is a bundle of features, in hardware as well as software. The mobile phone looks similar to the high end Nokia N97 and Nokia N97 Mini, as well as the economical Nokia 5800 Xpress Music and Nokia 5233. It is one of the phones that are expected to fly off the shelf as soon as they hit the market, as the internet is buzzing with numerous prospective buyers waiting for its release. The release date of this smartphone has been rumored to be in the first week of September, 2010, and its price is expected to be Rs. 13,000, making it an ideal substitute for Nokia 5800 Xpress Music. Let us have a look at the features this phone is equipped with, apart from the standard ones.

This phone is has almost the similar, but upgraded, features as Nokia 5800 Xpress Music, but is available in a touchscreen cum slider form. The slider consists of the QWERTY keypad, which has four rows of characters along with the handy D-pad, while the touchscreen is resistive type. The primary camera has resolution of 5 megapixels, with zoom, autofocus, geotagging, flash and video capabilities, and a QVGA camera is present for video calls. GPRS/EDGE, 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 2.0 and mini USB add value to the worth of this smartphone. The customizable 3.2” screen with 16M colors will appeal to those who love to style their accessories.

This smartphone is said to be operating on Symbian OS v9.4, S60 rel. 5 processor, and possesses ARM 11 434 MHz processor. The apps it will support will include all games, as well as instant messengers like Yahoo!, Gtalk and Windows Live.     The document viewer feature will help professionals remain in touch with their files on the go. For the music lovers, this phone will have a 3.5 mm jack, as well as FM radio and support for standard music & video formats. The battery life is retained at 7 hours of talktime and 30 hours of music playing, due to the presence of the BL-4J Li-Ion battery. It is expected to be available in Black and White colors and provide A-GPS support to the users too.

According to reporters earlier, Meego release for N900 is getting ready.  Nokia’s MeeGo team has recently launched that the very first cut of the melded Moblin / Maemo mobile platform is now available for download. Specifically, users of Atom n900 meegonotebooks, Atom-powered Moorestown MIDs and N900s have all been gifted with their own distributions which will boot off a USB stick or directly on the devices themselves.

It is sad that the MeeGo user experience is not included here, so if you flash your N900 you are going to end up booting into a terminal console, but some of you sickos are into that sort of thing, are not you? Next up for the team is a release billed 1.0 that will come in the month of May and we are told details on the road to that version will be revealed over the coming days.

So, take care of yourselves if you go for it.

Nokia Supreme is supremely expensive ($160k)

Posted by Isha Farhad On January - 12 - 2010

Nokia SupremeNokia phones have always been my first choice. I remember when I was in college my first mobile was of Nokia and now-a-days also I am using a good featured Nokia mobile. Now, the newest Nokia phone comes from Goldstriker’s Stuart Hughes. But this latest luxurious Nokia cellphone is called Nokia Supreme (a Nokia 8800) which is nothing more than an upgraded Nokia Royal which is nothing more than a blinged out Nokia 8800 Arte.

Now, the luxury bedazzler is back with an entry-level alternative to its $3.2 million iPhone 3GS Supreme. There will be only three Nokia Supreme phones manufactured, each priced fabulously at £99,995.00, about €111,940 or $160k.

The Nokia 8800 is made out of selected materials such as platinum of 83 grams and it is encrusted with 1225 pink diamonds including a “3ct single cut flawless center diamond” and the usual granite box to store it in. This handset is also housed in a chest made from leather and granite.

I do not think there is any other Nokia phone out there to cost more. So, if you have $160k and do not know what to do with it and then you must go with a pink-diamonded slider phone, Goldstriker’s Nokia Supreme.

Nokia Booklet 3G shipping at $199 on contract ‘through the holidays’

Posted by Isha Farhad On December - 14 - 2009

Nokia Booklet 3GBeginning this weekend, Best Buy Mobile, the mobile specialty retail unit of Best Buy Co., Inc. will give the gift of additional holiday savings on some mobile products this holiday, aimed at satisfying wish lists. Yes, you are dreaming in a right direction as there are special savings on four hot Blackberry devices, the groundbreaking Nokia Booklet 3G and the AT&T Xenon.

Savings on Blackberry

Blackberry 8900 – $69.99 after $80 savings ($149.99 regular price)
Blackberry 9700 – $99.99 after $100 savings ($199.99 regular price)
Blackberry 8520 – $29.99 after $20 savings ($49.99 regular price)
Blackberry 9000 – $89.99 after $60 savings ($149.99 regular price)

It was the biggest argument that the $299 on contract price for Nokia’s Atom-powered Booklet 3G was a bit steep but now its price has fallen with its closest competition so I would like to thank to a price drop at Best Buy Mobile. From December 13th “through the holidays,” the Windows 7-packin will be available for $199.99 with a two-year AT&T Data Connect plan. Sure, there is a good chance you will regret the decision to jump on this when the next-generation Atom hits at CES.

So, let’s leave the decision on Santa that what Santa wants for us.
