Research team at the Indian Institute of Technology and the Indian Institute of Sciences developed the world’s cheapest laptop that will cost only $35. India’s human Resource Development Minister, Mr. Kapil Sibal has already given the green signal to start mass production of this remarkable touch-screen computing device.
Talks are already going on with global manufacturers to start mass production of this latest and strikingly low cost computing gadget; the target audience being mainly students.
Sibal also told a news conference that technology has reached such a stage of development that today the motherboard, its chip, the processing, connectivity etc, including memory display and all other requirements can be met at a mere cost of around $35.
This advanced computing device has everything you can possibly ask for such as internet browsers, PDF readers, video conferencing and has enough flexibility to incorporate any other facility or components as per individual requirements.
This is a Linux based computing device that will hit the market by 2011. Sibal further confirmed that after its introduction to higher educational institutions the price may be further dropped to $20 then eventually to $10.
