Is BlackBerry services down in North America?

Posted by Isha Farhad On December - 23 - 2009

BlackBerry 9700BlackBerry everything on the Fritz? BlackBerrys are always supposed to do some things well:

1) Grab your email in real time off an Exchange server
2) Make you look important
3) Work.

Though, it seems that many are working on our third major North American outage here in less than one month, with the reports flowing in that users connected to BIS are having trouble with web browsing, Messenger and apps that consume data (email is though inexplicably unaffected).

Being reported by users, data service issues look:

Update 1: BlackBerry data is no more. No emails, no BlackBerry messenger, no web browsing, for its North American users.

Update 2: BlackBerry Messenger and things like the apps and web browser that use a data connection. Though, email seems ok. And it also seems not all subscribers and not all carriers are affected.

Update 3: It seems that upgrading to the new version of BlackBerry Messenger may resolve some of the BBM issues. So, if you can manage to get it loaded up, you might have some life again.

Update 4: There is the current Google Search Results for “BlackBerry” that makes for some additional fun reading to kill the time.

So, let’s wait for more details.
