Hornspeakers are not always grand. Yet, it is grand and sophisticated also when the hornspeaker is done like the La Grande Castine. This Hornspeakers is weighing heavy at 130kg and measuring 2m x 92cm x 1.20m in size.
A very high-end 3-way full horn loudspeaker for home uses this and delivers in the 108dB range. As all the horns are time aligned so it features a very large sweetspot. With only a 3 watt amplifier, the La Grande Castine speakers can reach real high acoustic level.
We can call it La Grande Castine as the “MF Horn Island”. It is not a self-contained system because it is very much closed-bottom system as they use woofers with very low resonance, deep into midbass and then harvest all problems at lower MF and upperbass.
So, what LF sections the La Grande Castine use? If the speaker uses additional help from bass section then the crossover type and the type in this section will say about the capacity of the “MF Horn Island”. Till yet, we have not seen any mention of LF section.
The price of this hornspeakers is about $100,000 in the US. We have not received much information about this system but the images we got are quite good.
